" Grandeur of the Glades "

An Original Oil Painting by Riley Geddings,
Florida Landscape Artist
Description by Maggie Geddings,
Writer, Author and Poet
Description of this Painting
"GRANDEUR OF THE GLADES " is the most most recent oil painting from the brush(es) of my favorite artist - my husband, Riley Geddings
- that highly-esteemed, talented, popular Florida Landscape Artist (what more can a
wife say !!). First - a little background on how I came up with the title - Riley and I recently went on a
Caribbean
cruise aboard the ship "Grandeur of the Seas" ... bingo ... "Grandeur of the Glades"
This latest masterpiece is again located in Florida's Everglades (The Glades) in southern Florida - a typical
scene one might enjoy perusing as one pauses to enjoy a happenstance as we continue our Life's Journey.
The first thing that catches (forgive the pun) my eye is the sky (that's the poet in me ... hhmmm ?). Here is yet
one more wonderful morning sky captured on canvas by Riley as he brushed in those Florida oranges and lemons -
blending in with the pale mauves and then the sky blues ... sooooo beautiful !! Using his knife, he added those
typical clouds one oftentimes espies - at this time of the day - at this time of the year - at this place we call home ... Florida.
On the left - silhouetted against that early-morning sky - are five Cabbage - or Sabal - palm trees raising their fronds to welcome yet
another day in paradise. On the right are three Cypress Trees, found in abundance here in The Glades, whilst in
the distant center-stage is an area of saw grass plains framed by the far distant typical Florida bushes and foliage and
small trees. Claiming stage-front is an abundance of Florida birds ... that Great White Heron in the foreground
on the left raising itself up on silent wings after having fed on a few bream hiding under the lilypads ... more of his
brothers/sisters are still feeding in these shallow, clear, blue waters ... whilst on the right is yet one more of these
beautiful birds just arriving at what is a favorite gathering place for their early-morning brekky.
Finally - as one has come to expect in all of Riley's paintings, we see his "hallmark" - the inquisitive Black-headed Gull
(Larus Ridibundus) our favorite gull hovering and seeking a breakfast repast. Another great oil painting from my
favorite artist ... Well done Riley ... now then, why not take another cruise on the "Radiance of the Seas" ...
then you could paint "Radiance of the Glades" ... how about it hubby ??
