This webpage is about Florida landscape artist, Riley Geddings. He resides in Carrollwood Village just on the outskirts of Tampa, Florida, U.S.A. He is happily married to his wonderful English wife, Maggie, who supports and encourages him in all of his artistic endeavors.
Riley also maintains "theartcove.com" website as webmaster. He always appreciates your comments and feedback - just use any "contact" link.
Riley Geddings was born in South Carolina but would have been born in Palm Beach, Florida because Riley's mother couldn't continue the trip as she was very heavy with child ! After a two-weeks delay, his parents continued the trip to Florida ! Since then, Riley has lived in this great state of Florida for the majority of his life.
His style of painting has developed in part with the study of the painting techniques of many varied artists, from tutors and even in-depth study of the masters ! One group that he admires is the now famous Florida 'Highwaymen' of the mid 1950s era.
As a boy of 12, Riley started painting with watercolor, then in high school, he studied art for two years under a wonderful art teacher who saw his potential and gave him top grades. He has never forgotten her advice - "paint exactly what you see" - and he does !
As a young adult, Riley studied oil painting under a noted art teacher in Charlotte, North Carolina. He has also spent many hours watching famous artists on television to learn all the painting techniques as possible. From then on, he has been self-teaching himself, and states "Some day I hope to become the great artist that my wife Maggie thinks I am now !".
He considers himself very fortunate to be living here in this wonderful State of Florida, the natural beauty is endless and the scenery provides perfect ideas and unlimited subject matter for his paintings. Most of his work is inspired from actual scenes in Florida and he captures as much authenticity as possible in his paintings.
During the past few years, Riley has become quite well-listed and is now one of Tampa's emerging artists. He has produced many commissioned projects for art lovers in the United States as well as the United Kingdom and Spain. Riley's clients have come to realize that the paintings they have commissioned will become treasured family heirlooms. In addition, he has been involved in large commercial projects as the exclusive artist !
He is featured on dozens of well-known international art and artists internet web sites !
In his younger years he served our great Country well in the U.S. Coast Guard:
