You can expect the unexpected in his work because his paintings are not the typical scenes commonly displayed of Florida.

He sometimes paints beautiful Florida beaches, but he loves the back country best. That part of Florida is seldom seen and yet, provides a wilderness of diversity. Riley's work hardly ever displays humans, but instead birds, such as the Egret and Great White Heron, the marshes and ponds complete with the natural foliage found in the wilderness, some of the trees are adorned with Spanish Moss. All of his works are painted in a representational style with bold color, brush work and knife.
